Empower other women who need your help!
Why, hello there, and welcome back to Day 2 of Doing Valentines Day Differently.
It always makes my blood boil when I think about how the patriarchy has continued to shit on women. And it makes my blood explode when I think of women who are in really precarious situations and marginalized where some of the simplest things we take for granted are things they dream about.
Aaaaaaagh I hate how that makes me sound like some douchey Hollywood white liberal guilt, but that’s not it at all. What I’m getting at is there are women out there who need you, and you–yes, you who is still working on your confidence after divorce, or you’re still navigating the guilt you feel after your divorce, or the one who finds it really hard to get out of the bed this morning and who hates scrolling Facebook to see other women’s pictures of flowers from their husband of 30 years–can do things to maybe even marginally make their lives better.
Whether it’s domestic or international, related to girls’ education in the developing world, equal access to reproductive health, providing sanitary products to women experiencing homelessness, or (my favorite!!!) your local Girl Scout troop, there are sooooo many incredible organizations that would love (and need!) your time and investment.
Not sure where to begin? And nervous that the money you donate is just going to freakin’ fund some hack charity founder’s yacht? No sweat. I love creeping on Charity Navigator’s list for the ladies. You can check it out here!
So here’s your challenge for the day.
Hit “reply” to this email and let me know which Women-Supporting Charity you adore and already donate or volunteer with. Or, if you don’t have one yet, let me know which one you’re going to start supporting.
Remember—even when you are going through a lot of pain with divorce, paying it forward by helping other women does two things for you.
- It reaffirms you’re not alone and there’s a community out that needs you;
- It lets you know that even when you’re hurting and stuck, you have the ability to break free from patterns that keep you down. Because you deserve so much happiness.
Looking forward to hearing from you and what charity you love!
Talk to you tomorrow!
