Is Stress Bringing You Down? Knowing the Signs

Finding a new path and moving forward from your divorce can seem like a great challenge at first. Facing changes after a long marriage, such as living alone, managing your lawyer or legal issues, and dealing with your whirlwind of emotions, can be difficult and even seem insurmountable. With a support group that can help you recover amongst other women going through the same trials, the process can seem much easier, but sometimes the stress of it all can still build up and bring us down.

If you feel as though you are often very stressed and are struggling to find ways to unwind and be more mindful of all that you are going through, you should pay particular attention to the triggers of stress and work to resolve them for the sake of your overall health, particularly as you grow older. Knowing the short-term signs of stress on the body is important to getting at the root of the issue. Some symptoms of stress include:

  • High blood sugar

  • High blood pressure

  • Migraines and headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Hair loss

  • Skin issues, such as hives or rashes

  • Digestive issues

  • Worsened asthma

Going through a divorce is a struggle, and you should be conscious of the ways that stress may be affecting your health in later life so that you can do your best to find emotional healing and put yourself first.
